A Japanese textile event in London

Part of the official “Season of Japanese Culture 2019-2020” programme, Freeweaver Saori Studio showcases Japanese influences on contemporary art and craft. With international visual and textile artists, audio-visual presentations, demonstrations and workshops. Exploring natural dye processes, Boro, Saori Weaving, Sashiko Embroidery, Sakiori, Shibori, Katagami Stencilling and Woven Shibori.

The festival (12-17 March, daily 12:00-17:00) presents art work by a group of international visual and textile artists, and includes audio-visual presentations, demonstrations and workshops. The contributing artists explore natural dye processes (including Dorozome), Boro, Saori Weaving, Sashiko Embroidery, Sakiori, Shibori, Katagami Stencilling and Woven Shibori. Each artist’s choice of technique and description of their thought processes provides further insight to their work. A gallery shop with Japanese and Japanese-inspired work is located near the entrance/exit.
