Sculptor and Ceramicist Lucille Lewin: In Conversation with rakesprogress Magazine

Lucille Lewin is joined in her studio by Victoria Gaiger and Tom Loxley, editors of rakesprogress magazine, to discuss her life and work. Known for her organic sculptures, Lucille’s work is in demand all over the world, but much of her inspiration derives from her reverence for the natural world she finds on her doorstep.

From her central London studio, with its small courtyard garden, Lucille crafts beautiful white ceramics. Her abstract pieces ask questions of our destructive relationship with the planet, but her work also owes much to the raw beauty to be found in nature: from the riotous outbreak of the first shoots of spring, to an intricate bird’s nest of moss and sticks, to a fragile chunk of broken coral.

Together with the editors of rakesprogress, the UK’s leading independent magazine about the art of plants and flowers, Lucille talks about her work and her inspiration – and how she left behind a career in fashion to become one of Britain’s most exciting new ceramicists.
